Stuart Manning is an actor best known for playing Russ Owen in Channel 4 soap 'Hollyoaks' and his appearance on ITV reality show 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here'.
Before becoming an actor Stuart worked as a model. He was first discovered as a new face by London’s Models 1, before being hand-picked by Bruce Webber to become the face of America’s Abercrombie and Fitch. During this time Stuart also appeared in numerous television commercials for premium bands including Pepsi, Muller Yoghurt and Orange.
Stuart's first acting breakthrough came playing Sam Armstrong, an upcoming footballer who was forced to give up his dream to look after his orphaned siblings, in ITV soap 'Night and Day'. In 2002 Stuart won the 'Hero Of The Year' award for his portrayal of Sam at the British Soap Awards. An unconventional and highly stylised soap, Night and Day attracted a strong cult following and gave British television audiences their first glimpse of Stuart Manning.
After 'Night and Day' Stuart went on to appear in the Indie film 'Pump', ITV's 'Diamond Geezers' and renowned dramas 'The Bil'l and 'Holby City'. However Stuart’s major break came in 2004 when he was offered a leading role in Channel 4 soap ‘Hollyoaks’, playing the character Russ Owen. Stuart successfully manipulated his character to suit every story line, not only did Russ fight and survive testicular cancer, he also became a love rat and secretly fathered a child. In 2009, much to the disappointment of his many adoring fans, Stuart’s character Russ, exited ‘Hollyoaks’ on a cliff hanger. Stuart exit brought with it the highest viewing figures 'Hollyoaks' had received for five years.
In 2009 Stuart joined a host of fellow celebrities including veteran actor George Hamilton, celebrity chef Gino D'ACampo and television presenter Kim Woodburn in the Australian jungle for the ninth series of ITV's popular reality show 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here'. Having successfully negotiated a number of 'bush tucker trials' and formed close bonds with his campmates, Stuart left after 19 days in the jungle.
Always one to challenge himself, Stuart's next step was to prove he could successfully transfer his screen acting skills to stage as he made his theatrical debut in Kay Mellor's 'A Passionate Woman' in 2010. Acting opposite Kay Mellor, Stuart took on the role of Polish immigrant Craze in the stage adaptation of the BBC drama. Following the play's original run at the Hull Truck Theatre, Stuart reprised the role in 2011 for a second run at the Oldham Coliseum and New Wolsey Theatre.
