Joe grew up in London where he attended his local community school. Before moving to attend university Joe spent a gap year working for the Sunday Express.
At university Joe studied Ancient History obtaining a 2:1 degree. Within weeks of leaving he began working at showbiz news agency WENN. Where in less than two years he had climbed to senior position within the agency and caught the attention of the tabloid newspapers to whom he sold stories.
Joining the Daily Star as a News Reporter, Joe worked on the music and celebrity columns where his flair for getting celebrities on side and witty turns of phrase saw him excel. Joe soon became a regular on the 'Talking Heads' show, offering his expert opinion on numerous controversial subjects.
After a year at the Daily Star Joe took charge of the music column, changing its name to 'Joe Mott’s Hot' column and becoming the youngest tabloid journalist to run his own page. During his three years at the Daily Star, Joe transformed the column from a page ignored by the media and music industry into a must-read. His column won three awards from Record Of The Day and he was the first national journalist to cover big name acts including Lily Allen and The Arctic Monkeys, to whom he dedicated a whole page before they even had a record deal. Joe also launched 'Joe Mott’s Blog,' the first blog of its kind, which soon became the most talked about blog in tabloid journalism.
With his tabloid credentials firmly in place Joe joined Janet Street Porter as an expert journalist on the ITV2 show 'Deadline' becoming a favourite with viewers, thanks to his assortment of hats and unique dress sense. After 'Deadline', Joe opted to leave the world of red carpets, parties and gigs in favour of a more thoughtful life as an opinion columnist at the Daily Star Sunday.
As well as writing his weekly think pieces, Joe is consulted by numerous record labels and music industry big-hitters and has recently written the Sunday Times No.2 best-seller N-Dubz: From Streetlife To Chartlife. More over, Joe has sought to pursue his love of dogs, giving up a day a week to volunteer at his local animal rescue centre and working closely with The Dogs Trust as both a judge at their annual Honours Show and as an active campaigner to raise awareness of their work.
With his good looks, strong opinions and creative new TV format ideas, the future looks bright for Joe.
